I found it to be informative and easy to read

I purchased this book for a grad school class. Even though it is a textbook, I found it to be informative and easy to read. It does not read like a normal textbook, it's not as bland. I used this as a resource to write several papers from. This is one book I'm not going to sell back; I'm keeping it for reference. It includes recent content dealing with the Affordable Care Act, which is helpful. Excellent book for anyone needing it for class, or anyone who is interested in the structure of the current US health system, as well as that of other countries.

publishers supplemental website is terrible, book is good

The book comes with online access to additional content. However, the "jblearn" website has many sections where trying to access the course material returns an error message. Customer support is unresponsive. I like the content of the book but this publisher's attempt to enter into an ebook market is a complete failure.

This is a great overall view to health care

This was an assigned textbook to my Masters in Health Administration class as an introduction to health care systems. I felt that this book was very logical and had a "story-telling" nature in the delivery of information. This is a great overall view to health care, as well as provides great introductions to many aspects of health care. As others have mentioned, it has a slightly pessimistic outlook to the health care "system" in that the book does not hesitate to point out the lack of a true system.

Provides a good range of arguments and strategies in philosophy. There are a few articles which are quite poorly written, but most are at least fair. You'll get more out of it if you try to set aside your own position on the questions

A creative approach to applied ethics

Applied ethics texts are a dime a dozen, with seemingly every academic publisher offering multiple textbooks in the field. Most deal with the standard topics--euthanasia, abortion, capital punishment, animal rights, etc., etc. Typically these texts throw together a hodgepodge of articles dealing with each topic, which has the advantage of providing divergent points of view but the disadvantage of not providing any significant direct interaction between the various authors whose writings are anthologized. "What's Wrong?" a text edited by David Boonin and Graham Oddie, goes a long way toward rectifying this latter problem.

Each issue covered in this anthology begins with an article that takes a strong stand on one or another issue. Often the article is extremely well known and is a classic in the field. (For example, James Rachel's article on "Active and Passive Euthanasia" or Tom Regan's "The Case for Animal Rights.) Following this are multiple articles (generally somewhere between two and four) that critically interact with the seminal article. This approach allows students to see how critics have responded directly to the points made in the initial article. In addition, the editors introduce each topic with a fairly detailed analysis (of several pages in length) of the articles to follow, thus giving the students a fairly good idea of what to expect when they read the articles.

I have taught applied ethics classes for nearly two decades and have looked at dozens of anthologies. This is one of the best. Moreover, despite its length (well over seven hundred pages) it is relatively affordable.

Good, easy read that offers a couple of ideas to F&I Managers with a little seasoning under their belt.

It's a quick (20 minute) read and not something I would consider revolutionary or mind-blowing. If you've ever come back from an F&I training course feeling rejuvenated and ready to set the world on fire with a couple of new ideas, expect the same here. It's less than $8 so it's probably worth the investment just for the motivation. Seasoned F&I Managers will read it and just accept a couple of new ideas to try and newbs will need a little background before being able to use the information completely.

If you are looking for a process from start to finish that you can implement today, there are better choices out there. I prefer this one as it is still fairly brief but outlines everything to get you from setting up the deal to menu presentation and some basic closes:

Simple and straight to the point!

I am a new F&I manager and I want to be the best, period. Training to be the best I found this book and Is amazing how everything in the book is right on the money. My mentor is very good at what he does, so I bought this book for him and he was impressed. The "system" that this book explains is the exact system he uses. Thank you for putting this advice in writing and help us F&I guys to improve our skills! GET THIS BOOK NOW!!

GERALD F. BERNARD, CPA, is coprincipal of Bernard & Stallman, P.C., a Phoenix-based accounting firm that specializes in tax services. A former IRS agent who for five years performed audits on individuals, small businesses, and trusts, Mr. Bernard now uses his IRS expertise to serve his clients. He is a past chairman of the Arizona Tax Legislation Committee of the ASCPA and served two terms as chairman of the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Arizona Forum for Improvement of Taxation.

DANIEL J. BARAN, CPA, is a principal of Daniel J. Baran, P.C., a firm specializing in tax controversy, tax planning, and tax compliance. A former senior tax staff member with Ernst & Young LLP, he was a founding board member of the Arizona Forum for Improvement of Taxation. He is a past chairman of the Arizona Society of CPAs' Internal Revenue Service Committee and the Arizona Department of Revenue Tax Liaison Committee.

Great source for reprints of old tax forms

If your looking for an extensive reprinting of 1995 tax forms and instructions, or a handy glossary of definitions such as "Internal Revenue Service", "Deed", "Will" and even the always confusing multi-syllabic "Representative", you'll find it here in spades. Of the 284 pages in the book, the first 111 is full of boilerplate advice that you might get free from the IRS, the remaining 173 pages is reprints of IRS forms, their instructions, and the glossary.

Good induction to bread-making!

Mabel Roark's `Bread Making Made Easy' is a short and sweet book that, of course, spans recipes but also basic information on breads of all varieties as well. The first couple of chapters cover ground on an assortment of topics including why it is better to bake your own bread for health reasons and what ingredients you can expect to use in bread-making. It is much more than just a recipe book.

As a complete novice to bread making I found this e-book was a gentle immersion to this new endeavor, and I can't wait to try my hand at making chapati bread. On that note, many bread making recipe books only cover bread that is baked in a loaf for things like sandwich-making but I loved that there were recipes for chapati and naan bread, as I'm a complete lover of foreign foods - particularly Indian.

The recipe section handily lists the baking equipment needed for each bread alongside the list of ingredients, which is wonderful for those who aren't sure exactly what is the right `kit' to be using. I also really love how Roark has sprinkled random bread facts throughout the whole book as I have always liked gathering small snaps of knowledge about various things.

My only issues with Roark's e-book are that at times the formatting is a little off-kilt and there is no comprehensive list of the recipes available, but I can assure you that the content more than makes up for such small mishaps.

Overall, if you're looking for a short and snappy guide to bread making without wanting to be submerged in far too many recipes then this is a good place to go. Never made bread before? Try this for starters!

Inaccurate recipes (Kindle edition

I followed the recipe as written. Never having made rye bread before I didn't know the recipe was inaccurate. They must not have tested the recipes thoroughly, my bread was missing ingredients and turn out like a brick. I purchased the Kindle Edition hopefully the bound version is correct.

My daughter and I love to bake together and she has been instructed in branching out from sweets into breads (something I was very excited about because I love bread!). Neither of us had ever made bread by hand before (just with a bread machine once or twice while visiting family), and I wanted to find a good guide to get us started. This book was exactly what I was looking for! The writing was clear and easy to read and the directions were very easy to follow. We read it on the Kindle app on our computer and on a Kindle Keyboard and it was very easy to navigate through. The formatting was fine for us so I am not sure if others who had trouble were using other devices. Cinematic Lesbian Erotica

This is one of the best collections of girl-on-girl erotica published in recent years. Granted, there is a superficial quality to the work, and that is drawback. Maybe Bosque's models are just bad actors, maybe it's the staging - but the girls just don't sell themselves are real lesbians. But the photography, especially the compositions, are what make this such a stellar body of work. Bosque zooms in so that we can almost taste the fleshy, moist goodness that lingers between their legs. His cunnilingus photos are amazing - and that is a sexual act that is very challenging to get right. Walter Bosque does it with aplomb. His subjects finger each other, kiss each other, and relish the exquisite beauty that every girl in this work possesses. His beautiful, young Argentine models are each amazingly gorgeous with bodies made to be savored.

The excellent construction of the book itself is to be commended. Publisher Edition-Reuss does a glorious job of filling each page with the flowing story of each sexual encounter. And it's larger than average dimensions (11.4" x 8.4" | 28.9cm x 21.3cm) are almost cinematic. This is a marvelous piece of erotica sure the be enjoyed.

Inspiring. Young Girls Discovering the Joys – of Being with Each Other

I thought this book was fantastic. It’s about time that someone came out – with an intimately artistic book – of young girls getting amorous with each other.

About a dozen pairs of girls appear. They are pictured in country houses, in tubs and showers, and outdoors in natural settings. They are alone. They are not being rushed. They are all quite nude. There’s plenty of kissing -- and very intimate touching. Very little is left to the imagination. I found the book to be hugely romantic.

All of the women are really young – with lithe figures and flawless complexions. Some are clean-shaven, many are not. The book finishes strongly. The babes get more beautiful and buxom towards the end.

This is a coffee table book I’d like to leave out for young girls who visit me to discover. All of the photos are tastefully done. The situations seem quite natural and not posed. The girls -- mainly brunettes with a scattering of blonds -- come across as natural amateurs, and not glamorous models. The two babes on the cover – are no where to be found inside. Strange.

The paper is very heavy, and the print quality is superb. The book isn’t extremely thick, but it’s very weighty and dense.

The girls and settings, however, look very European. An American version as volume 2 would be nice. Highly recommended, nevertheless. Enjoy.

Gentle and pleasant

I found this collection unexpectedly charming. The book consists of a few wordless vignettes, with a different couple in each one. It's easy to fill in the gaps between snapshots in each series, imagining how the scene would unfold, perhaps even seeing yourself as giver or receiver. Intimacies all seem gentle, just kisses and touches that might warm and maybe tease the sensitive bits - it's all about attentiveness and affection, not whatever is biggest or goes deepest.

So, it tends to stop short of the truly climactic moments. Really, when she's at the peak of an erotic moment, facial expressions and the rest might go beyond the mild mood of this book. And, in a few places, the model's gaze out toward the viewer breaks not only the fourth wall but also the sense of looking in on an private interlude of shared tenderness. It's an attractive collection with a low-key, natural kind of intimacy, but leaves the explosive finishes for your imagination to carry through.

A bit unclear sometimes, yet a great book

I didn't really know what to expect when I opened this book. It was the first time that I've opened a musician's autobiography, and I thought it might have an examination of how he developed his style, how did he decide to play the instrument, etc. This book was a good surprise. Mingus is hardly focusing the music, though it is always there, and choosing to tell us about everything that's around it. It seems as if he knows that the reader is probably familiar with his music, and is trying to make us understand WHY his music is as it is, and it's a smart move. The autobiography sort of completes the music, adding a missing half to it, making me understand Mingus the man, and through it understand better Mingus the artist.
The book is written wonderfully, Mingus' writing is brilliant, and the story sweeps you with him and you thank God for it being such a small book or you might've missing a month from reading it rather than a day. Some things are not totally clear, and some things are not explained, but yet, it is a great book, deals with love, crime, blacks and whites, jazz, madness, and the conclusion, which is expressed in the title, that love, for friends, women or for music is the only thing that's really important, and if you dig it, you could find happiness.

If Charles Mingus Were a Gunslinger, There'd Be A Whole Lot of Dead Literalists

Look, all you people who are offended, turned off, disappointed by this book, it is a jazz fable, a tall tale, an anthem to an insane period in American history, a wonderful pastiche and motley carnival of fact and fiction, a truly ground-breaking early Post-Modern ride. It is precisely along the lines of the music Mingus made. The moralists and those who sit in judgment are reacting precisely the way Mingus would have found hilarious. If you don't get this book, you don't get Mingus music and you probably don't get a whole lot of other angles on underground American culture, race relations, black male sexuality as mythologized by our prurient pseudo-religious moralizers, drug addiction and its bizarre effect on personal relationships, raw spirituality and the shadow, the mid-century shambles of mental health care, the predicament of the creative artist in a capitalist society, etc., etc., etc. If you want a pallid "jazz biography" read a book by some footnote-addled academic. If you want a real vision of one of the craziest lives of one of the most amazing artists of the 20th century, this book can work.

How to Be a Pimp 101

A word of warning to those thinking of purchasing this book - It is not what you may think. This is not a linear autobiographical work - it is more along the lines of an exagerrated story of the pimp lifestyle and the struggles of a light skinned African American in early to mid-20th century America.

Pay attention to the 'disclaimer' in the beginning of the book:

"Some names in this book have been changed and some of the characters and incidents are fictitious."

Therefore, you must not read this book under the assumption that it is a typical jazz autobiography. I view it as more of an artform, just as I would view the music. I find BENEATH THE UNDERDOG to still be an enjoyable read, however, you must know what you are getting yourself into. The stories are all over the place, including wild stories that involve dozens of women in Mexico as well as his later frustrations concerning his time at the Bellevue mental hospital in New York City. Mingus also writes about his youth in Watts, California, specifically the fact that he did not fit in with the whites because he was black, and he did not fit in with the blacks because he was light -skinned. These issues of alienation spill over into other aspects of his life. Additionally, one could argue that the racism and alientation he suffered along with the fame he experienced are strikingly similar to Miles Davis's frustrations in his autobiographical work, MILES.

The writing style in this book is less than professional, to say the least, but it is still an entertaining read. If you would like to explore a much more solid biographical portrayal of Mingus, allow me to recommend his wife's book, TONIGHT AT NOON or the book, MINGUS: A CRITICAL BIOGRAPHY by Brian Priestly.

Dr. Diane Sukiennik is a career counselor; a licensed marriage and family therapist; and an internationally recognized lecturer and workshop facilitator. She holds an advanced degree from Columbia University and has extensive postgraduate training in industrial psychology, management, and organizational development. Dr. Sukiennik was on the faculty of Moorpark College in California. Her areas of expertise are career development, personal and professional presentational skills, and managerial effectiveness. She is a consultant, has a private practice, has contributed to the development of a nationally distributed telecourse on career and life development called "Career Advantage" distributed by PBS, and she is an executive career coach. Dr. Lisa Raufman, who is President-Elect of the California Career Development Association, has been Dean of Counseling and Career Center Coordinator at El Camino College in Torrance, California. She is a career counselor and consultant, as well as a licensed marriage and family therapist. Her master's degree is in counseling with a specialization in the community college and vocational rehabilitation. Her doctoral degree from the University of California at Los Angeles focused on higher education, work, and adult development. Previously, Dr. Raufman coordinated the Career Transfer Center at Moorpark College. She is past president of the Los Padres chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the California Community College Counselors Association. For the past decade, Dr. Raufman has been a member of the California Community College Chancellors Office State Advisory on Career Development. She is a lifelong member of state and national counseling associations such as ACA, NCDA, CCDA, CCCCA, and APCDA (Asia Pacific Career Development Association. Buyer Beware - Avoid This Version

What a waste. No access code. I wish the author would have been upfront about this. Now they I've unwrapped the shrink wrap, I'm stuck. Thanks for that bait and switch.
