"This is a unique book in its focus on treatment planning considerations, and it does so from multiple angles. The topics range from detailed descriptions of optimization algorithms to a paragraph on how to copy skin marks with clear plastic tape and a pen. All of the chapters contain plentiful color images. One drawback is the variable level of detail spent on target volume delineation.

Some chapters have contouring atlas type images and a detailed discussion of the rationale behind including or excluding elective volumes. Other chapters have only a brief description of clinical target volumes. That said, the writing and figures overall are of high quality, and this book seems like a useful reference for individuals from widely differing backgrounds and levels of expertise."

A great reference

I got this while preping for boards. In some ways it's better than "The Physics of Radiation Oncology," definitely more depth on individual procedures. Reader beware, it's written by a number of different authors so be prepared to read a historical review of radiation oncology at the beginning of every chapter.

Not what I expected. I was hoping for something that covered the main concepts of clinical treatment planning. Written by too many academics and not enough clinical physicists. A clinical approach to this book would be nice.

I am what most would describe as an introvert, and as such I have a tendency to think a lot. That being said this book threw my brain into overdrive. Being in own mind is overwhelming and I can't imagine how Marguerite did it so many times in so many different settings.

It was an absolute pleasure reading Claudia Gray' s Firebird trilogy. The worlds she created are fascinating but the most endearing quality of this series are it's characters. I took an instant liking to Marguerite even though I am anything but artistic. She was loyal, fierce, and just a kickass heroine who literally fought against the world to save her loved ones. The adventures she had were really well done and her charisma easily draws in readers.

I would recommend this book for all those that love adventure, family and love. This book is sure to send are your heart racing, whether it's in terror or happiness depends on the Marguerite though.

Very fun!

This is the story of a non-traditional princess who hates doing all "princessly" things and a non-traditional dragon who hates doing all "dragonly" things. They realize that they will be much happier if they trade places, so the dragon lives in the castle and is a perfect princess, and the princess lives in the cave and terrorizes the villagers.

I got this book because I work in speech pathology and had a speech student who needed to work on using "she" for all female beings. He also loved dragons, sword fighting, and castles. He really enjoyed this story, and we had fun talking about the characters, what could happen next, and whether the characters were making good choices. It doesn't have a lot of words, the pictures provide a lot of material for discussion, and the book is short enough for 5-10 min of reading and talking. Definitely added it to my list of options for therapy.

This nasty princess isnt who everybody thinks she should be, neither is the sweet, well mannered dragon! They trade places and have ball. It teaches that you can be yourself and be happy, also gives some insight into others views. You dont have to be perfect or how others want you to be.. There are perks to being kind and polite though. My kids decided it would be a better choice to be a friend.

Fantastic book for toddlers and up!

My 4 year old daughter and 8 yr. old son love this book! I have been reading it to them since he was 3 or 4 and they both love the switch of the princess-like dragon and the dragon-like princess. It allows them to feel like it's ok to be who they are. I think it helps them understand that being angry doesn't mean you are a bad person. The princess likes to be rough and tumble, and she's ok just as she is and so are all the children of the village when they want to escape and be with her, too!

Dr. Roger J. Best is an Emeritus Professor of Marketing at the University of Oregon. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University in 1968. Following graduation, he joined the General Electric Company where he worked in both engineering and product management. While at GE, he received a patent for a product he developed. Dr. Best completed his MBA at California State University, Hayward in 1972 and received his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 1975. He taught at the University of Arizona from 1975 to 1980 and the University of Oregon from 1980 to 2000.

Over the past twenty-five years, he has published over fifty articles and won numerous teaching awards. In 1998 he received the American Marketing Association Distinguished Teaching in Marketing award. In 1988, the Academy of Marketing Science voted an article on marketing productivity by Dr. Best and co-authors the outstanding Article of the Year. He is a co-author of Consumer Behavior: Implications for Marketing Strategy (8th ed.). Dr. Best has also developed the Marketing Excellence Survey (www.MESurvey.com), a benchmarking tool for assessing a manager's marketing knowledge and market attitudes based on a worldwide database of over 15,000 managers and MarkProf (www.MarkProf.com), an online marketing profitability tool to help marketing managers "mess the profit impact of marketing strategies.

Over the past twenty years, Dr. Roger J. Best has been active in working with a variety of companies in both marketing strategy consulting and management education. Great material and ideas... needs a little fine tuning in later editions

This is a very pricey book for an MBA course of mine. It's got great concepts and a very quantitative method for evaluating marketing, which is great because when marketing programs are the first to get cut in the budget, it's nice to have proof of how effective they are. The author also has a compatible website with additional tools for marketing.

Still, I think that the book is really dense with not enough real-world examples. Also, the graphs alluded to on one page are found on a different page, which makes it difficult to follow along (sometimes graphs are in the future, and others they have already been shown).

His methods are great in theory, but a lot of them would be impossible to configure in real life. For example, when does anyone truly know the true market attractiveness score? It's an estimate, at best. Great start, though. I hope that the 6th edition is a little better organized...

About the Author
Nita Rutkosky began teaching business education courses at Pierce College in Puyallup, Washington, in 1978. Since then she has taught a variety of software applications to students in postsecondary Information Technology certificate and degree programs. In addition to this title, she has co-authored the Marquee Series 2013, 2010, 2007, and 2003, Signature Series 2013, 2010, 2007, and 2003, Using Computers in the Medical Office: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2010, 2007 and 2003, and Computer and Internet Essentials: Preparing for IC3. She has also authored textbooks on keyboarding, WordPerfect, desktop publishing, and voice recognition for Paradigm Publishing. Denise Seguin has been teaching at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario since 1986. She has taught a variety of software applications to adult learners in Continuing Education courses and learners in postsecondary Information Technology diploma programs. In addition to this textbook, Ms. Seguin has authored and co-authored many computer application textbooks for Paradigm Publishing, Inc. Audrey Roggenkamp has been teaching courses in the Business Information Technology department at Pierce College in Puyallup, including keyboarding, skill building, and Microsoft Office programs. Historically interesting, but repetitive and a bit too promotional

The Start-up Nation was recommended to me by a friend who said it was an insightful book. It wasn't a disappointing book, but neither did it leave me very impressed. The book attempts to answer one single question: "Why is the amount of start-ups in Israel relatively so high". It does a decent job in explaining that and summarizing Israels history, but it doesn't leave you with much concrete advise.

The book consists of four parts, but unlike most books, the parts aren't actual clear groupings as the authors just flows from story to story and the authors repeat the same points many times. The stories were nice and the book was well written. It would be hard to distill the answer to the start-up nation questions as many things related. However, from the beginning on, there is a very strong emphasis on the army. The emphasis on the effect of mandatory army service was actually something I disliked about the book. A good example of this was the story of the army having an elite group which receives an thorough scientific training (Talpoit). This elite group created an exceptional amount of entrepreneurs. Only the 1-2% top students will be allowed to join this group. One thing that I kept wondering is if it is the 1-2% of the stop students who are exceptional entrepreneurs or people from this army unit? It felt the conclusion was drawn too quickly.

Other strong influences that caused the start-up nation are the Jewish culture and especially its lack of hierarchy and it's emphasis on challenging and discussion. Also the people in Israel have a shared mission to build a country and that strong relationship with the country creates some passion for helping the country which also aligns people. The book considers the huge amount of immigration to be another advantage as it created a wide diversity and people who immigrated are natural entrepreneurs.

The book covers quite a lot of history (especially military) of Israel, which I did find interesting but I wasn't always sure how relevant it was. It also made interesting sidetracks my comparing Israel with Dubai and Singapore and shows how the country is different and how that causes different different levels of initiative.

All in all, I felt the book was interesting yet not very special. I would recommend it for people who are interested in Israel, but not for people who want to know about start-ups. It gives very little concrete advise about start-ups or how to create a start-up environment. 3 stars.

A comprenhensive and illustrative book

Israel, has always fascinated me. I went there on a holiday trip last year (2011) and started to see many developments and solutions they have created in different fields: solar energy, irrigation, IT development, agriculture and so on. So when I came across this book, I knew I had to have it in order to understand, how a young country (60 years) have surpassed older countries that posses vast natural resources and that there are not in a constant fight for survivor.

This book is very easy to read. The authors portraits Israel from its beginnings and what they have done to be where they are right now with examples and without getting into much technical and economical terms.

They have a long road ahead, but what they understand and its intrinsic in his culture is to keep innovation and coming up with solutions. Failure is not seen as something bad, but instead a learning experience that is encouraged.

Excellent book. Applies both to the businesses and to the individual...

Very anti-semitic and nonsensical

I personally found it very racist against God's chosen people. An anti-semitic slur was found hidden in the text, like a puzzle. There was also an antiseptic caricature pictured in the book.

I did find it humorous how he proposed energy independence through the waste to energy incineration of circumsized foreskins.

Something I didn't understand is how America could replicate the subsidy it gives to Israel. The books says that the U.S. can write a check to itself but that doesn't make sense to me.

In the words of the Prophet Fore Chan: Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact. Treat this review that way/

I wanted to return the book but my waifu already threw away the box it came in and I didn't want to spend money on a new box just to send it back. I now use it to prop up a broken table leg. It's doing its job but I would have rather save my time and money by not buying this.

Frankly, this literary critic didn't expect Mick Foley's memoir of his life as Mankind (and his other wrestling personas, Cactus Jack and Dude Love) to hit No. 1 on Amazon.com's hardcover nonfiction bestseller list in its first literary bout. The cover is cluttered and confusing, and do we really need 500-plus pages of Foley's boasts? Yes. Foley gives his all for his calling, and he burns to tell his adventures. Take the famous tale of how he lost most of his ear (the bloody result is depicted in the 16-page color-photo section). It was in his 1994 bouts with Vader (Leon White): after getting a broken nose, a dislocated jaw, and 21 stitches in the first match, Foley did his "hangman" routine, wherein he catches his neck between the second and third ropes and spins them into a twist. "The end result is the illusion of a man being hanged by his neck while his body kicks and writhes in an attempt to get out... the man actually is hanging by his neck and the body really does kick and writhe in an attempt to get out." Unfortunately, in the prior match, Too Cold Scorpio had had the officials tighten the ropes, so Foley tore off his ear to avoid death by strangulation, like "a fox that chews off its paw to escape a trap." Foley also wrestles on 10,000-thumbtack mats with barbwire ropes and C-4 explosives, and earns the ultimate compliment: "The fans really like the way you bleed." Great book, but prinitng error in my copy

Very entertaining book. After purchasing this 6 months ago I finally got around to reading it. I would find myself unable to put the book down for hours. My one gripe with the book, would be that my copy had a printing issue where half of chapter 26 and the entirty of chapter 27 & 28 where missing from my book and instead replaced with pages 371 through 402 that I had previously read in the book. Nonetheless, I loved the book and found it entertaining, but do wish that I would be able to read the book in its entirety the way it was meant to be read. How will I ever sleep at night not knowing what happen during Foley vs Sabu? Oh well, definitely recommend it anyways!

Good Audio Book, But Not as Good as the Real Thing

The first thing I said after reading this book last fall in hardcover is that is that they've got to put out an audio version, and Mick Foley has to read it. After all, the book has a lot of humor in it by the way the story's told, and Foley himself is a pretty funny-sounding guy as well, so it should be a sure-fire hit, right? Well, it's here, and although they had to condense 500 pages into three-and-a-half hours, it's retained most of the humor and depth of the actual book.
I have to say that Foley's narration has its moments, but not that enough of them. Foley doesn't really hit his stride until about a half-hour in when he gets into his training from Dominic Denucci and gets a few impressions in. His impersonation of Vince McMahon is almost uncanny. He also does most of the swerve bits in the book (like the one where he claimed he hugged Eric Bischoff on his way out of WCW), and those are definitely funny. But, unfortunately, most of the narration is Foley just reading out of the book, which is cool since they're his own words, but isn't quite what I was expecting. I think some better direction could have helped here.
Most of the book is covered in this recording. The only things that are spare in their discussion are his parents, his courtship of Collette, his last days in WCW, and Owen Hart. In fact, Owen wasn't even mentioned at all in this version, which is strange because Foley dedicated about 10 pages to him in the book. I was also hoping for some of the extra chapters that will be in the paperback version to be released next month. Still, it was an easy purchase, it's fun to listen to if you're going on a long drive somewhere, and it might be something cool to play to anybody you know that pooh-poohs wrestling.

Humorous, insightful and full of thumbtacks

Mankind: Have a Nice Day! gets behind the curtain to reveal the politics and planning behind running a wrestling show, as well as gets Mick Foley's thoughts behind his greatest career achievements. Mick Foley isn't a dumb musclehead like you might expect a pro wrestler to be. His plain-and-simple storytelling style allows his warm, yet mischievous, personality to shine through. He didn't use a ghostwriter because he wanted the creative license with the book whether it was a success or a failure. Combine that with a truly interesting and exciting life to talk about, and even people who don't know the difference between a wristlock and a wristwatch can appreciate this one man's life. The book begins with the grotesque story of his 1994 match in Germany with Vader for WCW where he lost half of his right ear. The best thing about this first chapter is that although the common reader would probably shy away from a story as violent as this one, Foley tells it in such a good-natured and funny way that it almost seems like it's just another day at the office. Mick Foley has met, in almost Forrest Gump-like fashion, many of the great past and present wrestlers in the business. Foley also eulogizes Owen Hart, who died in May while he was still in the process of writing, as well as his longtime friend Brian Hildebrand, who passed away recently of complications from cancer. Mankind: Have a Nice Day! is an entertaining read for fans and non-fans alike. Jim Ross put it best in the foreword, "I guess in some ways this is a love story. The story of one man's love of his life. A life worth living." If you want to judge a book by the cover, take a look at the back and see the injuries of Foley diagrammed in a clean, efficient way. If you want to judge the man by the book, I would say this is one hell of a book written by one hell of a man. ....
